Incorporating eye tracking into cognitive interviewing to pretest survey questions

In this study, we investigated whether incorporating eye tracking into cognitive interviewing is effective when pretesting survey questions. In the control condition, a cognitive interview was conducted using a standardized interview protocol that included pre-defined probing questions for about one-quarter of the questions in a 52-item questionnaire. In the experimental condition, participants’ eye movements were tracked while they completed an online version of the questionnaire. Simultaneously, their reading patterns were monitored for evidence of response problems. Afterward, a cognitive interview was conducted using an interview protocol identical to that in the control condition. We compared both approaches with regard to the number and types of problems they detected. We found support for our hypothesis that cognitive interviewing and eye tracking complement each other effectively. As expected, the hybrid method was more productive in identifying both questionnaire problems and problematic questions than applying cognitive interviewing alone.     

Embedded counselling in advisory work with clients in debt

This article addresses the potential for embedded counselling in social work with clients in debt. It is based on experiences from Sweden where budget and debt advisors employed by the municipalities give assistance to clients in financial difficulties. A distinction is made between advice and guidance on the one hand and counselling on the other. As the financial problems often have been long lasting, it is not enough with one-time advice that the client hopefully then follows. The purpose of the article, thus, is to explore the possibilities of incorporating counselling in the role of the advisor.     

学习视角下教师教育课程的认知困境

教师教育课程的安排是以学科逻辑结构为依据的,使得教育理论远离了学生的经验,人为增加学习难度,教师教育课程应该从学科课程与教学法为切入点。教师教育课程内部的知识结构从理论到理论,割裂了认知过程,应该通过对他人实践过程的学习来弥补这个缺陷。学生的教育实习与教育理论学习是脱节的,使得教育理论无法指导学生的教育实践,也无法通过自身的教育实践来检验教育理论的合理性。所以,教育实习指导教师应该有意识地加强这方面的指导,帮助学生最后完成教育理论的学习。     

输入输出的认知过程与大学英语口语教学

输入和输出是二语习得过程中缺一不可的两个重要阶段,从输入到输出学习者必须经历一系列的认知过程。口语作为一种输出技能与输入输出的认知过程有着密不可分的联系。调查表明,大学英语口语教学中存在一系列的输入输出问题。要彻底解决口语教学中的输入输出问题,必须进一步完善口语教学中现有的输入输出模式,促进学习者口语输出能力的提高,提高大学英语口语教学的效率。     

从社会文化理论到语言社会化理论——二语习得研究的社会学转向

社会文化理论和语言社会化理论是近年来备受关注的两个二语习得流派,前者着眼于社会心理的互动与语言习得之间的关系,后者则把语言、文化和社会行为的学习看作三位一体的连续性过程。这两种理论流派相辅相成,反映了当下二语习得研究的社会学转向趋势。     

网络多媒体环境下二语词汇习得认知模式

为了提高网络多媒体环境下所进行的二语词汇习得的效度,综合二语习得及相关理论,分析了在该环境中进行词汇习得的认知模式。结果表明：该模式在感性认知、理性认知、强化认知和系统认知四个阶段得到优化;具有立体化、流程化、个性化和一体化的特质;习得者在对词汇信息进行筛选、加工和重组之后,最终完成信息内化和意义建构。     

小学生认知风格与教学

通过团体镶嵌图形测验区分小学生的认知风格,通过问卷调查,初步了解认知风格与成绩、教学方式、教师态度之间的关系,期望为小学教育提供一点实践依据。     

“或者说”类有标选择复句的语义类型及语用机制考察

探讨了＂或者说＂类有标选择复句较为典型的六种语义类型,即＂等义近义＂型、＂概括→具体＂型、＂绝对→相对＂型、程度上的＂轻→重＂型、＂包含与被包含＂型、＂迂回曲折＂型。此外从哲学依据、认知依据以及语用策略这三个方面探讨＂或者说＂类有标选择复句的语用机制。从哲学的角度来看,＂同中有异,异中有同＂的规律制约着＂或者说＂类有标选择复句的使用;从认知角度来看,＂横看成岭侧成峰＂的认知规律也制约着它的使用。另外,＂或者说＂类有标选择复句的实际运用还受到＂求稳求准＂的语用策略的制约。     

前科学时代自然观模式的演变及其认知机制

认知的透视性使得自然的绝对客观论被抛弃,随后出现的“精致表征”理论较好地解释了自然观演变的内在机制。随着次级工具的出现和社会文化的发展,自然观依次出现了图腾模型、生机论和机械式生机论。当人类对知识的理性检验能力增强后,“神创说”的表征空间最终让位于机械论。自然从认识的背景凸显为认识的对象是自然观模型演变的主要认知机制,但转变却让自然失去了应有的生机和整体的完整。

《年青的时候》运用了大量的语体交叉渗透,这种表达方式在小说中表现出很强的隐喻功能,在此基础上产生了一定的对比功能和篇章功能,小说的语言语境和文化语境进一步确证了语体交叉的隐喻功能,并由此揭示了小说的反传统的艺术价值。
